Glass Book Reader — Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-10-09
Glass Book Reader is an iPhone app that reads your own e-books aloud with the voices built into iOS and, if you own Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses, shows the lines being read on the glasses. This policy explains what the app does with your data.
What stays on your phone
- Your books. The EPUB, PDF and TXT files you import, the text extracted from them, your reading position and your settings are stored only on your device. Glass Book Reader has no accounts and no servers, and it never uploads your books or their text.
- Speech. Text is read by the speech voices installed on your iPhone (Apple's AVSpeechSynthesizer). Glass Book Reader does not use cloud text-to-speech.
- Diagnostics. The app keeps a small local log of technical events (for example connection states and timing numbers) to help you report problems. It never contains book text, titles, file names or device names, and it leaves your phone only if you choose to copy or share it yourself.
What Glass Book Reader does not do
- No analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs.
- No account, sign-in or e-mail collection.
- No access to the camera, microphone, location, contacts, photos or health data.
Meta glasses
Showing text on Meta glasses uses Meta's Device Access Toolkit and requires the Meta AI app, where you approve Glass Book Reader once. That approval, the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi link to the glasses, and any network traffic of Meta's toolkit or of the Meta AI app are governed by Meta's privacy policy, not by this one. Glass Book Reader has turned off the toolkit's optional crash reporting. The lines of text shown on the glasses are sent to the glasses over the local link; Glass Book Reader does not send them anywhere else.
Permissions the app asks for
- Bluetooth and local network: only to connect to your glasses.
- Background audio: so reading continues when the screen is locked.
Children
Glass Book Reader does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children.

Glass Book Reader
Glass Book Reader
Meta
Glass Book Reader
